Community of Practice – Making Learning Visible
December 6, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
“The most powerful tool that supports children to learn, to develop their own ideas, theories and strategies, in a way that respects them as individuals, is documentation. The documentation I am discussing here is, in fact, “pedagogical documentation.” (Gandini and Goldhaber, 2001)
QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION:
- What am I currently doing in my program that might be considered pedagogical documentation?
- How can pedagogical documentation help me in the work I do with young children and their families?
- What type of documentation will best illustrate the learning?
- How does the use of documentation influence the children’s experiences and responses?
- How can I involve family members in the documentation process?
During this session, educators are asked to bring in a piece of documentation so that we can share our thinking with others.
