“When we learn to honor the special and invaluable early years as a culture in and of itself, we understand children in a deeper way and improve the quality of care we provide to them” (Plank, 2016).

We are inviting all educators to attend our next book study. We will be reading Discovering the Culture of Childhood by Emily Plank. Each meeting will be held at a different location to allow educators an opportunity to view other programs, gain new ideas, and learn from other early years professionals. We anticipate that the study will take place over approximately 8 sessions and we hope to have the opportunity to teleconference with Emily Plank at one of these sessions.

In preparation for the first meeting, please e-mail Jodi to confirm your attendance and read the introduction (up to page 13). Additionally, remember to bring your copy of Emily Plank’s book to every meeting. If you are unable to take part in all portions of the book study, you are still welcome to join us at any time. Additionally, if you know anyone who would like to join, please pass their e-mail to Jodi and they will be included on the meeting invites.
