The courage to listen differently: Hearing and seeing children and the role of the educator in new ways

August 11, 2021 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Reggio Emilia Aotearoa New Zealand (REANZ) has a free webinar available for the next couple weeks about listening differently. This is part of a two-part series with the second webinar becoming available on August 30th.

These webinars are “an opportunity for educators to reflect on the critical role of listening and how this permeates the everyday choices we make when we work with children. Kirsty Liljegren and Fiona Zinn will draw on the thinking of the Reggio Emilia Approach alongside their personal perspectives which hold listening at the heart of practice” (REANZ, 2021).

You can access the first webinar here: https://www.reanz.org/events

We are inviting you to join us in a pedagogical discussion to unpack this rich webinar and consider how it impacts our work with young children. Two options are available:

    1. Join us at 9am on Wednesday, August 11th to view the webinar with us and we will unpack the webinar afterwards from 10:15-11:00am.
    2. Watch the webinar prior to August 11th and join us from 10:15 – 11:00am to unpack the webinar.

E-mail us at early.years@tbdssab.ca to let us know if you’ll be joining us for A or B 😊 Please register by Monday, August 9th.

“Listening is a complex state. It involves the abandoning of oneself as we come to know that we are only one being within this vast universe.” (Carlina Rinaldi, 2001)
